Self-similarity of the ferroelectric domain structures optically observed in electroded KDP crystals

Abstract

Influence of a depolarization field E_d on the fractal domain structures of KDP has been explored by comparing the domain structures formed in an electroded state of and in an unelectroded state of the same c plate. It is found that the field E_d reduces the periods of the structures and causes their fractal aspects.
