Abstract
The systems consisting of barium 1,2-bis-(2-ethyl-hexyloxycarbonyl)-1-ethane sulfonate(BaOT)/aqueous Ba(OH)2/ cyclohexane were utilized to study the formation of W/O microemulsions and the preparation of BaCO- particles by CO-bubbling method. The density, fluorescence depolarization, NMR and dynamic light scattering measurements showed that W/O microemulsions form at 7 molar ratio of water to BaOT. On the other hand, the shape of BaCO, particles formed were spherical at any concentrations of water, but their size increased markedly with the formation of W/O microemulsions. The mechanism of the formation of particles in W/O microemulsion system was discussed from the numbers of micelles solubilizing aqueous Ba(OH)2 and BaCO3 particles involved in unit volume of BaOT solution. Keywords
