Study ofB→ψ(2S)KandB→ψ(2S)K*(892)decays

Color-suppressed decays of B mesons to final states with $\psi \mathrm{}\left(2S\right)\mathrm{}$ mesons have been observed with the CLEO detector. The branching fractions for the decays $B^{+}\to \psi {\mathrm{}\left(2S\right)K}^{+},$ $B^{+}\to \psi {\mathrm{}\left(2S\right)K}^{*}{\mathrm{}\left(892\right)\mathrm{}}^{+},$ $B^0\to \psi {\mathrm{}\left(2S\right)K}^0,$ and $B^0\to \psi {\mathrm{}\left(2S\right)K}^{*}{\mathrm{}\left(892\right)\mathrm{}}^0$ are measured to be $(7.8\mathrm{}\pm 0.7\pm 0.9)\times {10}^{-4},$ $(9.2\mathrm{}\pm 1.9\pm 1.2)\times {10}^{-4},$ $(5.0\mathrm{}\pm 1.1\pm 0.6)\times {10}^{-4},$ and $(7.6\mathrm{}\pm 1.1\pm 1.0)\times {10}^{-4},$ respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The first measurement of the longitudinal polarization fraction is extracted from the angular analysis of the $\overrightarrow{B}\psi {\mathrm{}\left(2S\right)K}^{*}\mathrm{}\left(892\right)\mathrm{}$ candidates: ${\Gamma }_L/\Gamma =0.45\mathrm{}\pm 0.11\pm \mathrm{0.04.}$ Our measurements of the decays $B^0\to \psi {\mathrm{}\left(2S\right)K}^0$ and $B^{+}\to \psi {\mathrm{}\left(2S\right)K}^{*}{\mathrm{}\left(892\right)\mathrm{}}^{+}$ are first observations.
