Pyomyositis mimicking malignant tumor. Three case reports.

Abstract
Deep abscesses in muscle (pyomyositis) are apparently rare in the United States and other temperate countries, while the condition is seen frequently in tropical and underdeveloped nations. In this country it has been reported in recent immigrants and in narcotic addicts, but in a few instances no apparent predisposing factor has been implicated. In the three cases reported here, preoperative evaluation strongly suggested the presence of a soft-tissue sarcoma.
