Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 72-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for evaluation of "chronic meningitis."The patient was in a stable state of health until one year earlier, when he began to experience malaise, fatigue, and weight loss of an unknown amount. Six months before admission increasing lethargy and fatigue developed, and he noticed rapid loss of hearing in the right ear, with vertigo and right tinnitus. A friend observed ptosis of the left upper eyelid, followed by a left proptosis that gradually worsened. A left-sided nasal discharge developed and was treated with an antibiotic.
