Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 72-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of a neurologic disorder.He had been well until five weeks previously, when a rapidly progressive disturbance of gait developed, accompanied by anorexia, impaired memory, somnolence and the loss of 6 kg in weight. He was known to have a "nodule" in the left lung for many years. On admission to another hospital neurologic examination showed that the gait was unsteady and shuffling, and the speech was slow. The laboratory findings were for the most part within the normal range. The urine contained 5 to 7 white cells . . .
