Abstract
The rates of growth of the most rapidly growing spherical pulmonary metastases in 118 different patients is reported. These data were programmed to ascertain the mean and standard deviations of the frequency distributions and the equality of the means in the various categories was tested by the Student t-test. Sex, age, and tumor type did not affect the frequency distribution with the exception that pulmonary metastases from bone and soft tissue sarcomas, testicular and epidermoid cancers and tumors growing in hosts between ages 0-29 years grew significantly faster than did tumors in other categories. With the rates of growth forming a log normal distribution the duration of host survival was also found to be log normal. The parameters of all these frequency distributions are reported within the text. Keywords
