Abstract
The Blatt-Biedenharn formalism for the calculation of cross sections in resonance reactions is extended to provide for (1) empirical spin-orbit effects in the potential scattering, (2) the interference of resonances of unequal spin and/or parity, and (3) the energy spread of the incident particle. Explicit formulas are given for the total cross section and for the Legendre polynomial expansion coefficients in the differential cross section, for single channel elastic scattering, in the presence of all three effects. For a general multichannel reaction, explicit reaction and elastic scattering formulas, both differential and total, are derived only for the second situation. Keywords
