Seeing is believing

Abstract
The last three decades have witnessed an unprecedented increase in the power and availability of computers. This has fostered an explosion of activity in many areas of physics, with an accompanying expansion in the volumes of data being generated by computational physicists. Fortunately, developments in computer graphics have complemented this expansion. In particular 'data visualization' techniques have been introduced to present large quantities of data in ways that can be assimilated more readily. One of the more sophisticated and technically demanding of these techniques is computer animation.
