Abstract
On the basis of the results obtained with various substituted dialkenes, including deuterated monomers, an interpretation is presented of the mechanism of formation of the following polymers: 1,2 iso‐ and syndiotactic polybutadiene; cis‐1,4 iso‐ and syndiotactic polypentadiene; 1,2 syndiotactic poly(5‐methyl‐1,3‐pentadiene); trans‐1,4 threo diisotactic poly(2,4‐hexadiene). Evidence is given that the ligands bonded to the transition metal of the catalyst are important in determining the orientation of the incoming monomer. Keywords
