Abstract
A rotation-vibration model based on the molecular picture where the wide rotational resonances are fragmented by surface vibrations is proposed to account for resonances observed in heavy-ion reactions. The model is applied to the 12C+12C system; its predictions are in fair agreement with experimental data. Keywords
