Abstract
A diluting medium composed of one part egg yolk and 5 parts of an isosmotic mixture of 1 part of NaHCO3 soln. (1.3%) plus 4 parts of glucose (5%) gave better results than any other storage media studied for bull spermatozoa. A reduction in the Na-buffer salts increased survival of bull spermatozoa during storage only if sufficient quantity remained to maintain proper pH level. Glucose and fructose solns. were most satisfactory for replacing part of the Na buffer. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
