Abstract
Valproate (VPA[an antiepileptic drug])-induced hepatic disease is a rare complication. A 24-yr-old woman developed liver lesion due to VPA treatment and a 73-yr-old woman developed liver disease probably due to VPA treatment. Both cases were reversible. The latter represents the oldest patient ever reported to suffer VPA-induced reversible liver lesion. Liver biopsy showed liver tissue with drug-induced changes. To prevent the development of irreversible liver toxicity, it is important to instruct the patient about the symptoms of VPA-induced liver toxicity and stop the treatment if necessary. Keywords
