Abstract
This paper describes a rapid and effective method for the direct detection of humic substances and co‐existing organic species in aquatic media. When the mixed samples which consist of a humic sample and a organic compound were added to the yellow silver sol, the SERS signals of the organic compounds were further enhanced by an order of 101‐102 with the aid of humic substances without spectral interference. The additional improvement of the spectral sensitivity is due to the humus‐induced resonance Raman effect. However, when the systems above were acidified, the SERRS signals of humic substances were predominantly observed. Therefore, this method appears very promising for total analysis and characterization of dissolved humic substances and the other organic matter in complex systems as well as real environment. Four humic samples in real life were successfully identified using this method. Keywords
