Abstract
The spread of the intraveous (IV) technique of administering narcotics among addicts in the USA was facilitated by involvement in a drug subculture. This conclusion is supported by an analysis of data on a sample of Lexington patients over the period of 1935-1965, by case material on 5 addicts, and by a review of the addiction literature. These sources also showed that IV use 1st occurred about 1925 increased slowly until about 1932-1933, then rapidly to 1940, and has since been the usual route for addicts. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
