Abstract
In a 3 yr period, 179 renal transplant operations were performed, during which time a uniform regimen for preventing wound infections was used. The incidence of primary renal transplant wound infections was reduced to 1% by administering a single high dose of broad-spectrum antibiotics intraoperatively as an adjunct to this regimen. Intraoperative antibiotic coverage has been a safe and effective measure for preventing primary transplant wound infections. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
