Abstract
The different line-broadening mechanisms which may control the residual linewidths of 1H MAS NMR spectra of zeolites and hence the accuracy of measurement of the strength of gas-phase Brønsted acidity are discussed quantitatively. The residual linewidth is mainly determined by the distribution width of the strength of acidity in the case of highly siliceous zeolites.
