Leukocyte Antigens in a New Guinea Population

Abstract
HL—A typing in 100 unrelated individuals belonging to 3 language groups in New Guinea has shown a striking difference in the frequencies of some HL—A antigens as compared with Australian Caucasians. The most striking finding are absence of HL—A1 and a very high frequency of HL—A9 belonging to the first segregant series, and an increased frequency of the LND and BB antigens in the second series.
