Abstract
Several male newts (P. waltlii) were given from 250 to 500 R X-rays to the hind part of the body and immediately placed with an unirradiated female. The proportion of abnormal embryos obtained from these matings was very significant. The viable offspring of irradiated males were investigated to determine the types of chromosomal aberrations they carried. The 1st results obtained on 80 viable metamorphosed animals are described. Six animals with chromosome aberrations had translocations and deletions. Keywords
