Abstract
For the past three years I have been working as an internist in a community hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. At 1400 meters above sea level, Patan Hospital commands a panoramic view of the central Himalayas, from Annapurna in the west to the Everest district far to the east. No less stimulating than the view is the experience of practicing medicine in a non-Western culture.
