Abstract
The question of whether increased renal vein renin activity or concentration from the kidney with a stenotic renal artery reflects increased renin secretion or merely decreased renal blood flow has been examined in a group of patients in whom bilateral renal vein plasma renin activity (PRA), effective renal plasma flow (ERPF), and the results of surgery were known. It is concluded that increased renin activity reflects increased renin secretion by the kidney with arterial stenosis in the majority of these patients. Keywords
