Abstract
Concepts derived from general man-environment system (MES) models are applied to the specific problem of nomadic sedentarization. The analysis focuses on the manner in which residential mobility may function as a central element in nomadic cultures. Restrictions on mobility are linked to changes in such diverse variables as personal identity, cultural viability, experienced stress, and interaction control mechanisms. Keywords
