Abstract
Seven patients with calcific pancreatitis and 7 patients with malabsorption syndrome were studied by plasma radioactivity determinations after Il31-iabeled fat meals without, and later with, concomitant pancreatin (Viokase) administration. Patients with pancreatic insufficiency showed a marked rise of the mean maximal plasma I131, while those with intestinal malabsorption had no significant change. In addition to its use as a differential test, substitution therapy with pancreatin may be assessed.
