Abstract
In severe intra-uterine growth retardation there are low IgG [immunoglobulin G] levels, low numbers of B [bone marrow-derived] cells and low percentage as well as numbers of T [thymus-derived] cells in cord blood. Following BCG vaccination given soon after birth, Mantoux conversion and leukocyte migration inhibition response to BCG was defective.
