UNILOBAR VENO-OCCLUSIVE DISEASE OF THE LIVER

Abstract
Unilobar hepatic vein thrombosis can result in interlobar competition with ultimate atrophy of the occluded lobe and hypertrophy of the less affected lobe. The angiographic appearance of this condition mimics hepatoma and cirrhosis in the atrophic lobe and could lead to diagnostic inaccuracy. Injection of contrast material directly into the hepatic parenchyma is the technique of choice to establish the true state of the intrahepatic circulation.
