Abstract
CO2 laser myringotomies were performed in 4 temporal bone specimens, 10 cat ears, and 11 patient ears. The method in cats produced a hole that remained open 3 to 6 weeks and healed without excessive scarring. In the patient ears, 9 of 11 laser myringotomies (82%) healed within 6 weeks. One myringotomy 4 mm in diameter did not heal and one 2 mm myringotomy made through a monomeric membrane did not heal. Keywords
