Abstract
The dielectric theory of the chemical bond has been extended to calculate pressure coefficients of interband energy differences in acceptable agreement with experiment. Some improvements in Van Vechten's prescriptions are suggested by these new, more stringent tests. An approximate empirical rule for pressure coefficients is confirmed, and deviations from it predicted. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
