Abstract
Some motor patterns of a free ranging young pygmy hippopotamus calf are described on the basis of 8 h of close visual contact in the Tai National Park. The hypothesis that the mother puts her new-born calf in a waterhole for the 1st few days after birth is presented and discussed with reference to ecological considerations. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
