Abstract
Kink folds have been produced in argillite specimens deformed at varied strain rates under simulated metamorphic conditions of 450°C and PH2O = 1 kilobar. Folds were formed at 13% shortening. The only mechanism of deformation recognised was mechanical re-orientation of mineral grains. Keywords
