THE EFFECT OF EMOTION ON THE BLOOD-PLATELET COUNT

Abstract
Excitement for 3 min. causes a sudden increase in the number of blood platelets in the circulating blood of normal cats. Sympathectomized cats show, on the average, a slight decrease in the platelet count after the same period of emotional excitement. In splenectomized cats there is regularly a decided decrease in the number of blood platelets after excitement for 3 min.
