Mixed bidentate and tridentate complexes of cobalt

Abstract
Two of the three possible geometric isomers of the ion chloroethylenediamine-(diethylenetriamine)cobalt(III) ([CoCl en dien]2+) have been isolated and characterized. A series of complexes of the formula [CoX en dien]2+ (where X = Cl, Br, I, NCS, and NO3), having the same isomeric configuration, have been prepared. The preparation of the complex ion, chloroisobutylenediamine(1ax,3ax,5ax-tri- aminocyclohexane)cobalt(III) ([CoCl ibn cytam]2+), and of the ligand isobutylene-diamine is described.
