Familial Hyperparathyroidism

Abstract
Hyperparathyroidism occurred in four members of a family, involving two generations. The tendency for involvement of multiple parathyroid glands and for recurrence was prominent, illustrating the necessity for a thorough surgical exploration and a long follow-up. Awareness of the familial syndrome resulted in early treatment of three of the four affected members, possibly avoiding the damaging renal effects of prolonged hypercalcemia.
