Abstract

The quantum-mechanical second virial coefficient

of a gas of hard spheres is evaluated at high temperature

T

. The result is

NB (T) = \frac{2 π a^{3} N}{3} [1 + \frac{3}{2 \sqrt{2}} \frac{λ}{a} + \frac{1}{π} {(\frac{λ}{a})}^{2} + \frac{1}{16 π \sqrt{2}} {(\frac{λ}{a})}^{2} + \dots] .
