Abstract
Summary: Children with sickle‐cell anaemia, a potentially lethal condition, are being born in increasing numbers in the United Kingdom. This paper recommends suitable screening techniques for the early diagnosis of sickle‐cell anaemia in the newborn by using a sample of cord blood.Keywords
