Have college students become less trusting?

Abstract
Analysis of overall trust scores for 4605 undergraduates over a 6-yr period and an item analysis of difference between the 1st and last yr. of that period for a small sample suggest the following conclusions: (a) there has been a significant and real decrease in interpersonal trust among Ss over the period 1964-1969; (b) the drop in trust seems to be somewhat generalized and pertains to a variety of social agents and institutions; and (c) more specific and larger drops appear to be present in the areas of national and international politics, the ability to keep peace in the world, and the trustworthiness of communications media.
