Abstract
Intraarticular [i.a.] injections of orgotein [OT], a metalloprotein with superoxide dismutase activity, did not ameliorate experimentally-induced osteoarthritis in the rabbit. Reduction of sulfate incorporation by cartilage of operated osteoarthritic knees with injection of saline-sucrose [S-S] placebo and OT in S-S vehicle was observed. Repeated i.a. injections of both OT in a S-S vehicle, and S-S placebo administered separately induced a severe synovitis in both osteoarthritic and normal knees. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
