Abstract
Among postmenopausal women (58–98 years of age) in a retirement community use of oral estrogens was not significantly associated with overall risk of stroke. Estrogen use was significantly associated with blood-pressure status. An observed association between estrogen use and nonembolic cerebral infarction in women aged 70–79 may be secondary to an interaction between hypertension and estrogen usage. Keywords
