Abstract
The heat of reduction of methyl bromide by an ethereal solution of lithium aluminium hydride has been studied in an adiabatic calorimeter. From the reaction heat we obtain ΔH°(CH3Br, g)=–9.0±0.3 kcal/mole, and D(CH3—Br)= 66.7±2 kcal/mole, relative to the C—H dissociation energy, D(CH3—H)= 102±2 kcal/mole.Keywords
