Pheromone Use in Insecticide Resistance Surveys of Lightbrown Apple Moths (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

Abstract
To determine the distribution of azinphosmethyl-resistant Epiphyas postvittana (Walker) in an apple orchard district in New Zealand, female sex pheromone was used to collect males from different habitats in a 125-ha area. Dosage-mortality regressions generated by topical application experiments showed the greatest proportion of resistant moths to be in the center of the sprayed area. This method permits decisions on control tactics to be made once the problem areas are delineated.
