Abstract
Summary: British material of Potentilla tabemaemontani Aschers. and P. crantsii (Cr.) Beck ex Fritsch consists of pseudogamous apomicts with chromosome complements at the hexaploid level (2n =c. 42) or higher. Some detailed information is given on the distribution of the various cytodemes, and the morphological variation is described. An ‘apomictic hybrid’ origin is suggested for certain topodemes of intermediate morphology. Comparison is made with Continental European studies on the two species. Keywords
