Transients in the Exhalation of Radon Caused by Changes in Ventilation and Atmospheric Pressure

Abstract
The paper discusses the problems arising in the experimental determination of environmental effects such as the occurrence of pressure gradients. Mathematical tools which help the understanding of the diffusion and permeation processes are described: An analytical solution for the equilibrium differential equations for more general boundary conditions and a finite differential method for the calculation of a time dependent solution. A few examples of such calculations, applicable to houses and to laboratory experiments, are given.
