Three major soil types were recognized. The soil types are differentiated primarily by the degree of Ca leaching. All the soils are developed on calcareous parent material. Type 1 occurs in the lowlands and contains large reserves of lime throughout the profile. Type 2 occurs at higher levels and contains excess lime in the form of CaCO3 nodules at the bottom of the profile only. Type 3 occurs in the uplands and contains no free lime. Detailed mechanical, chemical and physiochemical data on the 3 types of soil are presented.
