Abstract
The Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) has offered for the last two years a representation Qf synchronous machine dynamics [1-3]. That representation is, however, limited to linear machines only, i.e., the nonlinear effects of magnetic saturation are neglected. This paper describes an extension to the existing modelling capability permitting the introduction of magnetic saturation effects. The theory and implementation of this extension are discussed and sample digital computer calculations are presented. Keywords
