Abstract
Performance on the Rey Auditory-Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) was investigated for 252 patients aged 5 to 16 who underwent neuropsychological assessment. There was a high positive correlation between age and AVLT performance. Intelligence quotient (IQ) scores correlated moderately with AVLT scores. Rey's (1964) norms were demonstrated to be too high for current use. Males and females did not perform differently on the AVLT. French subjects did less well compared to English subjects, but IQ was a confounding variable. A current French version is included. The AVLT is recommended for clinical use with children. Keywords
