Abstract
In mixtures of sheep or cattle serum and kidney extract which under ordinary conditions produce a rapid coagulation of heparin dog plasma even after long continued incubation of the mixture, the typical curve of inhibition can be obtained if the coagulation of the plasma is delayed through addition of either heparin or a Ca-inactivating substance. This effect takes place irrespective of the time at which the latter substances are added. The curve indicating increasing inhibition of coagulation of plasma, with increasing incubation of the mixture of serum and extract, is presumably due to the inactivation of tissue coagulin by a substance in the serum, as well as to the destruction of thrombin, which progresses with increasing time of incubation. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
