Abstract
The location and structures of antigenic determinants of wax D were studied and several data were presented to show that the antigenic determinants were not in the peptide portion but in the polysaccharide portion. The antigenic determinants in the polysaccharide portion were compared with arabinogalactan and arabinomannose, the polysaccharides derived from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and it was suggested that the antigenic determinants of wax D were composed of the oligosaccharide moiety containing [alpha]-D-arabinofuranoside and that there are at least 2 different antigenic determinants in wax D, one of them containing no galactose. Keywords
