High efficiency of heterologous transformation of a restrictionless and modificationless mutant of Bacillus subtilis 168.

Abstract
Efficiencies of transformation with heterologous DNAs were examined on B. subtilis 168-YSI1 and its restrictionless and modificationless mutant B. subtilis RM125. Whereas the efficiencies of homologous transformation on YS11 and RM125 were almost the same, RM125 showed 30-200 fold higher efficiencies than YS11 when heterologous DNAs were used as transforming DNAs.
