Abstract
Three hundred and fourteen strains of coliform bacilli (79Klebsiellaand 235E. coli), mostly isolated from urine, were investigated for their production of, or sensitivity to, certain colicines.Only oneKlebsiellastrain showed colicine activity, but in 204 of theE. colistrains colicine production or sensitivity was demonstrated.Colicine typing was of considerable value in epidemiological investigations of post-operative urinary infections due toE. coli. Keywords
