Abstract
Several 6-unsubstituted purines underwent addition of potassium hydrogen sulphite or sulphurous acid across the 1,6-double bond. The effect of substituents in the 2- and 8-positions on the stability of the adducts is discussed with reference to their u.v. and 1H n.m.r. spectra. Keywords
