Abstract

We report on the dependence of the properties of the YBa ₂ Cu ₃ O _x superconductor on the process by which it is prepared. Resistance measurements indicate the quality of the samples. X-ray diffraction data show an impressive enhancement followed by a saturation of the intensities of some diffraction lines with the hours of thermal treatment of the sample and the number of times it is ground.
